It is extraordinary the way politicians fight one another to hog the "honours" of great events such as the Olympics (2012) and now the bid for the World Cup (2018) or indeed any such grande event, as long as it helps to project their name, party or both!
What these spendthrift megalomaniacs tend to forget is how and who's going to pay for their fanciful ideas...Actually, we all know. It's the usual suspects: the taxpayers. While the taxpayers do not benefit or may occasional do so in a very insignificant way, it is they who always have to fork out for all the massive and ever-increasing costs.The spiraling costs of the 2012 Olympics have become an almost daily issue. But fear not! Perhaps apart from putting in some dodgy receipts for expenses connected to "having to attend" the odd cerimony or sporting event, rest assured that those most likely to enjoy either of the above world events are those same politicians and their friends, the very same who'll have paid not a penny towards those mind numbing costs. Aren't usually these grandiose ideas the preserve of dictators and one-party states? It all makes sense after all!

I'm aware that, right now, the House Speaker Michael Martin is delivering a speech trying to cling on, by the seat of his smelly pants, to the gravy train that he so shamefully and deceitfully tried to hide from the public. I'm of course talking about the scandalous business of MPs' expenses... thus the source of this stench which seems to emanate from a mixture of putrid human flesh and unscrupulous greed, two of the primary ingridients in the build of the modern politician. I'm the one that feels cheated... for I predicted on several occasions that this incompetent git wouldn't last beyond Christmas.... and it's mid-February already!!!! I did warn everyone and the Chelsea supporters in particular, that this individual would be a waste of space, after what he did to the Portuguese National team and to portuguese football in general. He's nothing but a bufoon, a pathetic clown who's been riding on the Brazilian World Cup win of 2002.... when you and me could have done the same with that team. Just to prove my point, this is what I wrote about this man way back in July 2008 after his appointment as Chelsea manager...If recent history is anything to go by, this man is a buffoon! He has won nothing for Portugal in 5 years. Despite having good players at his disposal and playing at "home", he managed to lose to Greece twice in the €uro2004 in Portugal, and lose the Championship in the process. Another example of his "qualities" was Portugal's disastrous qualifying campaign for €uro 2008! Portugal only just managed to qualify by the scruff of the neck against very, very mediocre opposition. His football tactics are laughable and his substitutions ridiculous. His interviews are masterpieces of buffoonery and ignorance. When he does not know how to explain his pathetic errors... he simply plays the "phylosophical" clown. Of course... with the players he has, a place in the top three is guaranteed!!!" Well, Chelsea lies fourth now... so I could be wrong again!!

Words just fail me! We all know that politicians have had an easy ride for far too long. But I suppose they (almost all ) worked hard for such a luxurious life. They push the laws that authorise and legalise all the con-tricks that you hear about almost daily. This latest case is an example: Jacqui Smith shamelessly proclaims that "EVERYTHING IS LEGAL", so there!
If you detest politicians like I do and spend some of your time analysing the con-tricks that they are constantly up to, you realise that we have now a new class: THE POLICON i.e. the career politician whose main activity is to make as much money in the shortest possible time and brazenly denies that he's fiddling the nation's coffers... and reaffirming that everything is done within (their) laws! And when the coffers show signs of shrinkage, just wait till the government and local councils decide how much to increase your taxes. To that greedy lot any credit crunch only passes them by... as they whistle and look the other way.

From day one I've been saying that this guy would not last beyond Christmas at Chelsea if his disgraceful time as coach of the Portuguese National team was anything to go by.... SCOLARI HIZ A PRAT! Yes, OK, your eminence of a coach, Van Persie was offside and everybody knows that! While no true football fan should wish the sight of an error like Mike Dean's on any team, the real problem here, for a Chelsea fan in particular is... Is this guy Scolari up to the job? Of course not! Soon after taking over the Portuguese national team it became clear to any discerning observer that the man did not have a clue about improving or managing a football team. Only the gentle and simple, but highly ignorant folk in Portugal (not every one, thankfully!) kept applauding the man and his failures. First he loses the €uro2004 on home soil - losing twice to the same "average" team and eventual winners - Greece. The qualification for €uro2008 was another disaster with Scolari hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons (notoriously hitting, too, the serbian Dragutinovic at the end of a qualifying match...). Whenever asked by the english press about the recent "hiccups" of his Chelsea team, the man always tries to hide behind some pathetic gestures or not-so-funny quips pretending to hide some unfathomed confidence or guile that he simply does not possess. This guy Scolari never deceived me. He is basically an uncultured buffoon not able to understand that his "mystic" and "charisma" will soon be revealed and his cover blown out of these shores... all the way to the pampas in Rio Grande do Sul, where no doubt he will become a "genius" football manager again.

If this news is true, it will be going some way for me to
forgive Ronaldo for what I consider an unacceptable
situation. If one accepts to sign a contract under free will
and under specified conditions, one ought to honour it. If
there is no breach of the conditions of that contract on
either part, you either respect it or negotiate to revoke it.
Nothing else! The fact that Ronaldo left the rumours spread,
without ever countering them, does not go in his favour. As
a compatriot, I have to say: Please Ronaldo, do not do
